Lead Like Water
From the Village to

the Boardroom

Your starting point doesn't determine your future.

Your willingness to keep developing yourself does.

Most people don't struggle because they lack ambition. They struggle because nobody ever showed them how growth actually works. Not the polished success-story version. The real one. The kind that begins with setbacks, self-doubt, difficult environments, and the countless moments when giving up would have been easier than moving forward.

In Lead Like Water, Dr. Corina Tan shares the lessons she learned on a journey that began in a small village in Malaysia and led her to executive leadership on the global stage. Her guide was an unlikely one: water. It doesn't choose where it starts. It adapts around obstacles, wears through resistance, and takes the shape of every container without losing its nature.

Through career setbacks, leadership challenges, personal reinventions, and decades of experience across cultures and industries, she reveals what it truly takes to grow without losing yourself along the way.

Inside, you'll discover:

✔ Why your starting point matters far less than your willingness to keep moving forward, even when the odds seem stacked against you

✔ The difference between chasing success and building sustainable leadership that lasts through every season of life and career

✔ How to navigate setbacks, difficult environments, and career plateaus without allowing them to define your future

✔ How to recognize when you've outgrown your current path and position yourself for bigger opportunities with confidence

✔ How to adapt to change, lead across cultures, and create meaningful impact without sacrificing your values or identity

✔ How to build a meaningful career without sacrificing the relationships and family life that matter most

This isn't a book about becoming someone you're not. It's about becoming the leader you were capable of being all along. Through resilience, not force. Through growth, not perfection. Because the leaders who last aren't the ones who fight the current. They're the ones who learn to flow: shaped by the journey, while reshaping everything they touch.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You keep working hard, taking on more, and doing everything you're supposed to do. Yet the opportunities, recognition, and growth you expected never seem to arrive. The promotion went to someone else. Deep down, you know something is holding you back... you just can't figure out what it is.

  • Your responsibilities grew faster than anyone prepared you for. Bigger teams, higher stakes, and a family that needs you just as much as your career does. Some days you wonder how long you can carry both before something gives. You don't want to choose between a career that matters and a life that does.

  • You've achieved more than you ever expected, and yet something has shifted. The path that once excited you no longer fits the person you've become. You've started wondering whether it's too late to change direction, learn something new, or build something of your own. Part of you already knows the answer. You just haven't given yourself permission yet.
